Enjoying all the luxuries of power

Dear Editor, I’m sure that the people of Northfield will be joining in the celebrations of Mike Whitby’s announcement that Birmingham will have “one of the lowest council taxes in the country”.
I can see flag waving from the people of Kingshurst Road, Tessall Lane and Kemshead Avenue who have virtually no street lighting, those people with numerous filthy alleyways which only get cleaned at election time, those people of the Austin Village, Turves Green and around Fairfax Road who have suffered badly from the council failing to support them in their bid to curb anti-social behaviour.
The good news is Mike, at least you have a newly decorated office, and those sixinch thick carpets in the Council House look really good. What’s even more amazing is that your Liberal buddies continue to vote for all this extravagance, but there again, power’s a wonderful thing.
